Senior Web Application Engineer

This is a technical leadership role for an early stage, fast-paced Silicon Valley start-up in the video infrastructure space. Our Senior Web Applications Engineer will be responsible for architecting and implementing the front-end of a massively scalable, rich cloud application that will be accessed from laptops, mobile, tablet and specialized devices.
Responsibilities
- Hands-on code contribution and shipping responsibility
- Architect and design a highly scalable 3-tier web application with globally distributed backend infrastructure
- Build UI components with a contemporary look-and-feel / user experience
- Propose, prototype and evaluate web and mobile application frameworks and related subsystems
- Take high-level product specifications from product management/marketing and own/drive the architecture of the multimedia protocol subsystem
- Lead engineers in a global team and provide technical architectural direction
- Work closely with software and systems QA engineers to deliver a high quality user experience for the product
Qualifications
- BE/BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- Track record of building web applications based on high level direction and product requirements
- Strong knowledge and product delivery of web and mobile applications – both frontend and backend
- Extensive experience programming in C/C++ and/or Java
- Experience programming in Python and/or Ruby with frameworks like Django, Ruby-on-Rails, etc.
- Experience with JavaScript, DHTML, AJAX, HTML5 and contemporary browser-based rich application infrastructure
- Experience building Flash/Flex applications to enhance traditional web app functionality will be a plus
- Design experience with scalable database layer and implementing web applications on a distributed mysql and memcached infrastructure will be a plus
- Implementation and deployment experience in cloud compute environments such as Amazon EC2, Rackspace, etc. will be a plus
- Experience building mobile applications on iPhone/iOS, Android, Windows Mobile and/or Blackberry will be a plus
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to enable interactions across multiple time zones with US HQ
